      Good question. One widely held theory about the purpose of dreams is that they help you store important memories and things you’ve learned, get rid of unimportant memories, and sort through complicated thoughts and feelings. Research shows that sleep helps store memories.

      Good question but I think the other scientists are probably better equipped to answer this than me, as I don’t study dreams or dreaming!

      Reece has given a really good summary about some of the main theories about dreams, particularly about how dreams and memories are connected. There is some evidence that suggests that people who have had a brain injury and struggle to form new memories don’t have dreams, which I find fascinating!
